A closed-off home with limited sightlines was transformed into a contemporary villa where architecture, comfort and nature reinforce one another.
In the green heart of Deurle, we transformed a home full of character into a contemporary living space. What was once a closed-off house with limited sightlines and outdated systems became a light-filled villa where architecture, comfort and nature flow seamlessly together.
The entire building envelope was thoroughly addressed. The roof, walls and floors were given extensive insulation, combined with a type D ventilation system and high-performance glazing. On the rear façade, a 27-metre glass wall creates a direct connection with the garden, while underfloor heating makes radiators unnecessary and keeps them out of sight.
Inside, an open living structure was created with herringbone brick floors and wooden parquet. Bespoke cabinetry, an integrated media wall with projection screen and open fireplaces with natural stone mantels lend the interior warmth and refinement. The kitchen was given an island with a marble top and bar seating.
The outdoor space was also completely redrawn. A glass rear extension, rainwater recovery, ground profiling and a pool with brick finishing together with the various terraces form a calming, architectural whole in which the character of the home was preserved.
