A dark, closed-off family home was transformed into a modern, light-filled living space bathed in light, air and calm.
In a quiet residential neighbourhood near Gent, we transformed an outdated family home in De Pinte into a modern architectural gem. The original house had a dark, closed-off layout with a classic Flemish interior and little natural light.
After a thorough renovation, the interior is now bathed in light, air and calm. Open sightlines connect the living spaces with one another, while a sense of privacy is preserved through strategically placed functional elements such as a suspended wood stove, bespoke cabinetry and considered doorways.
The open kitchen was given a marble worktop, a copper sink and tap, integrated appliances and bespoke wooden cabinets with atmospheric pendant lights. Steel interior doors with glass and minimalist profiles bring a refined, contemporary touch.
The finishing was also carefully executed with stucco and seamless plasterwork, large concrete-look ceramic floor tiles and a bathroom with a rain shower set into the ceiling, indirect led lighting and a terrazzo washbasin. Technical installations and energy improvements make the home fully ready for the future.
