A 1980s house was thoroughly transformed into a light-filled, comfortable home that stays true to its original architecture.
This 1980s house underwent a thorough transformation. The owners wanted a brighter home with more space and modern comfort, yet wished to remain faithful to the original architecture, including the wrought-iron decorative elements of the stair railing, the period mantelpiece and the moulded cornices.
In the entrance hall and living areas, timeless materials were brought to the fore, such as a white marble floor with a custom-made cast-iron stair railing and a restored marble period mantelpiece with open fireplace. Large windows with high-performance glazing let plenty of daylight in throughout.
The open kitchen became the heart of the home, with a marble worktop, an induction hob, a ceiling extractor and minimalist black cabinetry around a cooking island. The dining room connects seamlessly and flows into the living room, with its parquet floor and a refined colour palette.
The bedrooms, bathroom and work space were also given a contemporary character, with natural materials, neutral tones and considered lighting that makes the most of more limited spaces.
Finally, there was a strong focus on sustainability: improved roof, floor and wall insulation, ecologically responsible paints and a new heating system ready for the integration of a heat pump.
