Farmhouse Gavere

A heavily dated detached farmhouse was transformed into a light-filled, comfortable home while preserving its rural character.

Renovating a farm or farmhouse is generally a demanding yet rewarding project, involving extensive work whose budgetary and logistical scale is easily underestimated. This classic detached farmhouse in Gavere was heavily dated and called for a thorough full renovation. The owners wanted a light-filled, comfortable home that respects its rural character while meeting every modern living need.

At the outset, the home had a gloomy appearance, with a worn interior, dark spaces and dated structures. The original façades were given a fresh look thanks to brickwork painted white with integrated wooden details. Larger, more contemporary glazed sections and black steel doors with glass elements lend a present-day yet characterful appearance.

The living room was entirely renewed with large windows that make the most of the rural views over meadows and nature. Authentic wooden roof beams and warm flooring materials reinforce the sense of authenticity. The kitchen was designed with an eye for both function and style, featuring a sleek black worktop, a tiled wall and a built-in raised dining table for four, complemented by a cosy seating area with a built-in fireplace.

The bathroom combines modern luxury with rural charm thanks to a freestanding bath, a steel and glass shower screen, marble wall tiles and a wood-look floor, with the bath strategically placed overlooking the meadows. Black steel and glass doors connect the spaces subtly, a stylish wooden staircase leads to the upper floor, and integrated ambient lighting in the treated roof beams creates a warm atmosphere.
